About me

My name is Mariana and I am a 28 years old lawyer who lives in Portugal.

Being the daughter of a (now retired) travel agent, I have been used to traveling since I was born. When growing up, my taste for traveling always increased, which made me start organizing my own trips once I gained my independence. I am now a self-organized avid traveler (together with my boyfriend, who's my #1 travel companion) and am always looking for opportunities to explore new places, meet new people, get to know different cultures and learn about the big world out there.

I have already visited over 30 countries and have many more in my travel wishlist. I have also lived in 3 countries (Portugal, Spain and Belgium) and 7 cities (Braga, Coimbra, Oporto, Lisbon, Barcelona, Brussels and Antwerp). Now working a permanent job in Lisbon, I try to make the most of my free time (weekends&holidays) to travel around.

What I value the most when I travel is to get to know the place where I am heading to, so I have no problems in (and often do so) flying low-cost, staying at hostels or shared apartments, only taking hand luggage with me, bringing some food for the first day, using public transportation, exploring the local supermarkets and markets, eating in food stalls in the streets... among many other options for those traveling on a budget, that actually make you have a better feel of the place, instead of only getting the touristic view of things.

In this blog you will find about my travel plans, how I organize my trips, what I had the chance to visit and tips on the places I have been to. Feel free to contact me for any queries you may have (although check the blog first, as most of them may be already answered here!).
